6 tbsps. butter melted (set aside an additional to brush the loaves before baking)
1 cup warm milk
1 1/2 tbsps. active dry yeast
3 tbsps. honey
3/4 tsp. salt
1 egg
1 1/2 cups unbleached whole wheat flour
1 3/4 cups unbleached all purpose flour
Directions:
Step 1 - Heat milk, honey and butter until warm in a microwave, during that time add your dry ingredients in your mixer with the dough hook attachment and mix to incorporate. Add the warm liquid and egg to the dry ingredients until the dough comes together in a tacky ball but leaves the side of your mixing bowl clean. If your dough is to dry add one tablespoon of milk at a time until the dough comes together properly.
Step 2 - Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, then divide and form 4 loaves. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let double in bulk (about 2 hours), then brush with melted butter and bake in a 400 degree oven for 15-20 minutes until light golden brown. Enjoy, this is absolutely delicious with jut butter!
