Ingredients:
3 1/4 cups all purpose unbleached flour
1/2 an egg
1/4 cup granulated sugar or honey
1 tsp. salt
2 1/5 tsps. active dry yeast
2 cups hot water
1 tbsp. of butter
Yields:
20 rolls
Directions:
Step 1: Sprinkle about 1 tsp. of granulated sugar at the bottom of your measuring cup, add 2 cups of water and then sprinkle the yeast of the top. Allow this to sit and react for about 10 minutes.
Step 2: Meanwhile in using your mixer with the dough hook attachment combine the egg, granulated sugar and salt then mix to combine. \Add the flour and then the yeast mixture, let the dough hook knead the mixture until combined.
Step 3: Grease (I use a light spray of canola oil) a large bowl, then using a spatula empty dough into the bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Lay a towel over the top and leave in a warm space until doubled in bulk (about 1 hour).
Step 4: Punch down the dough and remove the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Divide into 4 equal sections, then divide each section into 5 balls of dough. Roll each between your hands until it is 5-6 inches long, then tuck the ends together. Place on a cookie sheet with parchment paper about 3 inches apart.
Step 5: Cover with a towel until risen, about 45 mins to 1 hr.
Step 6: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and brush each roll lightly with butter. Bake for 12-17 minutes, depending on your oven.
Step 7: Remove and enjoy!!
