Homemade Buttermilk Biscuits
Ingredients:
2 cups unbleached all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
5 1/2 tbsps. salted butter
1 cup low-fat butter milk
Directions:
Step 1: Pre-heat your oven to 440 degrees. Combine all of the dry ingredients in your mixer with the paddle attachment. Then add your butter at room temperature, cut into small cubes. Run on a low-medium speed for 30 seconds - 1 minute.
Step 2: Slowly add buttermilk cold until dough comes together and let thoroughly incorporate.
Step 3: Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface, until it is about 3/4 inch thickness. Use your favorite biscuit cutter/size, then place on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. (Makes about 18-20 small biscuits or 10-12 large biscuits)
Step 4: Bake for approximately 10-12 minutes, until the biscuits turn a light golden brown :)
